Sheffield 3-Nations Match - 25th August 2007
Great Britain vs. Canada vs. Germany (youth)
The annual youth match against Germany was enhanced this year by the addition of Canada whose team was touring Europe in preparation for the World Age Games in November. The format changes slightly each year and this year comprised 4 performers aged under-18 from each nation. The GB team was drawn from the first four placed performers in the under-17 age group in the National Finals including our own Scott Gregory who had achieved 3rd place.
In a closely fought match the German men achieved 289.3 points against Britain's 278.3 and Canada's 249.3 whilst the British girls scored 281.1 against Canada's 267.9 and Germany's 258.2. Of particular local interest, however, was Scott's performance; in 7th place (of 12) after the set, despite achieving a personal best score, Scott turned up the heat and in the two voluntary rounds progressed through 4th to joint 3rd, each time posting a personal best score, to secure 4th on tie-break - importantly, however, he overhauled both of the British lads who had beaten him at the National Finals back in July.
